The Clean Corporate Citizen (C3) program was established
in 1997 by the MDEQ, to recognize those Michigan facilities that
demonstrate responsible environmental management, pollution prevention
and compliance with environmental regulations. CMA can help you to apply
towards this designation, which ensures that you get the benefits you
deserve for your environmental efforts. Applicants must: a)
develop and maintain a written environmental management system that is
appropriate to the nature, scale, and potential environmental impacts of
the organization. An applicant registered under the ISO 14001 standard
meets the environmental management system requirements. b) develop and
implement an effective pollution prevention program. c) be in compliance
with all applicable environmental regulations. · not convicted of
criminal environmental violation within past 10 years · not received
administrative penalty of $25K or more within past 3 years
Facilities that earn the C3 designation receive regulatory benefits
that allow permitting flexibility, shorten the waiting period to receive
necessary permits, and reduce monitoring and reporting oversight. Recent
changes to the C3 rules provide additional regulatory benefits in ground
water and surface water permitting. For further information or
assistance with the Clean Corporate Citizen application, contact CMA. If
your company is not located in Michigan, call CMA to see if there is a
similar program in your area.
